Midjourney V7 Review 2026: Worth $10-60/Month for VN Creators?

Midjourney V7 is the gold standard for AI image generation, but at $10-60/month on a Discord/web workflow, many Vietnamese creators still hesitate. After 6 months of continuous use for blog covers, Facebook ads, YouTube thumbnails, here's the honest take.

TL;DR - Quick Take

  • Score: 9/10 for creators needing high quality + aesthetic control
  • Price: Basic $10 / Standard $30 / Pro $60 / Mega $120 per month
  • Buy for: Design, brand, blog thumbnails, ad creative
  • Skip if: You only need logos/icons → Recraft/Ideogram are cheaper

What's New in Midjourney V7?

V7 (released 2026 Q1) is a major upgrade from V6:

  • Personalization by default: Model learns your style from ranking history
  • Draft Mode: 10x faster generation (lower quality, for testing ideas)
  • Voice Mode: Speak prompts instead of typing
  • Improved text rendering: Words in images more accurate (still behind Ideogram)
  • Omni reference: Better multi-image reference blending

Test 1: Blog Cover (1200x630)

Task: 10 covers for AI tool review blogs.

Process: Prompt + --ar 16:9 + style reference → generate 4 variants → upscale.

Result: Excellent quality. Style control shows a distinct aesthetic vs DALL-E (cinematic) and Ideogram (flat design). 9/10 covers immediately usable.

Verdict: Best choice for blogs/brands that need distinctive visuals.

Test 2: Facebook Ad Creative

Task: 5 ad creatives for a Vietnamese fashion shop.

Result: Product shots + Vietnamese model aesthetics are good. But 5-10 iterations needed to get it right. Time-to-final ~30 min/ad.

Verdict: OK but dedicated ad tools (AdCreative.ai) might be faster for high-volume ad production.

Test 3: YouTube Thumbnail

Task: 20 thumbnails for a faceless AI channel.

Result: Draft Mode lets you test 100 variants in 30 min. Upscale final → crisp 1920x1080. Consistent style across a series.

Verdict: Best workflow for batch YouTube thumbnails.

Test 4: Logo & Icon

Task: 5 logo concepts for a startup.

Result: Midjourney is weak for simple vector/logo work. Output is too "illustrated" for logos needing clean lines.

Verdict: Skip. Use Recraft or Ideogram for logos/icons.

Strengths

  1. Highest aesthetic quality in the segment
  2. Style diversity - cinematic, anime, oil painting, cyberpunk - all excellent
  3. Consistent character (with --cref) - build a visual series
  4. Omni reference - blend multiple images
  5. Community inspiration - showcase feed is full of ideas
  6. Personalization - model learns taste after 200+ rankings

Weaknesses

  1. No public API - hard to integrate into automation workflows
  2. Legacy Discord workflow (web app is better but still quirky)
  3. Text rendering still weak - typography in images wrong 40% of the time
  4. No strong inpainting like DALL-E 3
  5. No Vietnamese UI - not critical but Vietnamese prompts are weak
  6. Strict moderation - blurs body anatomy, political content, brand logos

Midjourney vs Competitors

ToolPriceBest for
Midjourney$10-60Aesthetic-first visuals, blog covers, thumbnails
DALL-E 3 (via ChatGPT)$20 ChatGPT PlusInpainting, quick mockup, text in images
Ideogram 3.0$8-16Typography, logos, posters
Flux.1 Pro$10-50Photorealistic, portrait
Recraft V3$12-60Vector, icon, brand asset

Pricing Strategy for VN

Solo creator using <200 images/month: Basic $10 (200 fast-mode images). If exceeded → unlimited relax mode but slow (10-30s/image).

Agency / small studio: Standard $30 (15h fast mode, unlimited relax). Sweet spot.

Heavy production: Pro $60 (30h fast) - only needed for high-volume client work.

Mega $120: Skip. Not worth it unless you have a 5+ designer team.

Who Should Buy?

  1. Content creators producing covers/thumbnails daily
  2. Designers/brands needing distinctive aesthetics
  3. Vietnamese bloggers wanting a premium-looking blog
  4. Small agencies offering creative services

Who Should Skip?

  1. Logo/icon only → Recraft/Ideogram
  2. Need API automation → Flux.1 via Replicate
  3. Need heavy inpainting → DALL-E 3
  4. Creator <10 images/month → DALL-E 3 free via ChatGPT Plus is enough

Bottom Line

Midjourney V7 is still the king for aesthetic quality. $10/month is a worthy deal if you produce images daily. But don't overpay - 95% of creators only need the Basic tier.

Recommended combo for VN creators: Midjourney Basic ($10) + Ideogram Basic ($8) = $18/month covers every use case.
